For Alumni

Sterling’s alums are diverse and include former students of Sterling School, the Grassroots Program, Sterling Institute, and Sterling College.

Sterling always has, and always will, emphasize the important and the authentic, and alums are a testament to the powerful effect of that emphasis.

Spring 2026 marks Sterling’s last undergraduate semester. We will graduate our final class at Commencement on Saturday, May 16. We hope you will join us for the festivities. For additional alumni events on campus this spring, please see transition resources below.

Take a Class!

Sterling is committed to lifelong ecological thinking and action and crafting leading-edge learning experiences relevant to our community members' important work. With this commitment in mind, Sterling College offers free or reduced tuition for alumni.

For Sterling College, Sterling School, and Sterling Institute graduates, Sterling offers free tuition to those interested in enrolling in up to one 4-credit course each calendar year. Alumni can contact the Registrar to request enrollment in a course as long as the following criteria are met:

  • Sterling B.A. or A.A. degree or Sterling School/Sterling Institute diploma in hand

  • Good standing with the College

  • Space availability

  • Dean of Academics approval

  • Participants are responsible for additional course fees, including, but not limited to, lab fees, travel, books, and materials.

This policy does not apply if you are a matriculated student, actively working towards your BA.

For alumni seeking to complete their B.A. degree:
