Tiana is a queer, multiracial, Latinx farmer, educator, and seed steward born and raised in New Mexico on unceded Tiwa territory. Driven by a passion for plants and a love for the Southwest, Tiana has worked on several land-based projects across New Mexico, exploring the potential for growing food in arid landscapes and engaging in restorative conversations with people and place. After six years of managing and serving as the director of a community education and experiential learning farm, Tiana founded Tierra Luna Seed Collaborative to provide regionally adapted seeds to farmers in the Middle Rio Grande and foster a community of seed conscious eaters. Tiana believes in the power of collaboration over commodification and the importance of centering kin and community – rooting her work and learning in accessibility, justice, and equity.
Tiana lives and farms with her Deaf partner, Stuart, steadfast dog, Odin, and wee herd of rambunctious goats. When not tending to plants, you’ll find them meandering through the woods, probably looking for mushrooms.
