“FAFSA Finish Week” At Sterling College Offers Help, Scholarships

According to a recent analysis by NerdWallet, high school graduates missed out on as much as $2.7 billion in free federal grant money during the past academic year. The reason for all that aid being unclaimed? It’s mostly due to incomplete or unsubmitted Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) forms.

Sterling College is partnering with the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC) as part of a statewide effort to encourage more Vermont students to complete and submit the FAFSA. Sterling will be participating in “FAFSA Finish Week” from October 17-21, 2016.

During “FAFSA Finish Week,” the Office of Admission at Sterling College will be holding open office hours from 9 am to 4 pm. Any person who has questions about the FAFSA, needs support or assistance, or wants to learn more about the form, can come to the David Behrend ’60 Admission Center in Kane Hall on campus and work one-on-one with the Director of Financial Aid. This service is available regardless of the applicant’s interest in applying to Sterling College. No appointment is necessary, but those wishing to schedule one can call 800-648-3591.

Additionally, two $1000 scholarships will also be available for students who apply to Sterling College and complete their FAFSA during “FAFSA Finish Week.” One scholarship will go to a student planning on starting at Sterling the fall semester of 2017, and the other for a student beginning his or her Sterling career during the spring semester of 2018.
