“A Sense of Place”: Expedition 1
You will jump right into classes immediately on Arrival Day. If you are beginning your studies in the Fall, for your first three weeks of the semester you will be enrolled in INT 100: A Sense of Place: Expedition I. If you are beginning at any other time of year you will be enrolled in a comparable orientation course.
A Sense of Place: Expedition I serves as your orientation to Sterling, Craftsbury, and Northern Vermont. It’s the beginning of your Sterling College journey. The knowledge you gain about yourself and your community through this experience will serve as the building blocks for your Sterling education.
Honoring Sterling’s approach to experiential education, A Sense of Place: Expedition I begins with a four-day backpacking trip on Vermont’s Long Trail.
Please read the Expedition I Packing List below very thoroughly. You will need to arrive on campus with all of your Expedition I gear and be prepared to leave for the four-day backpacking component soon after Arrival Day.
