Sterling College dedicated the garden behind Houston House as the Shelton-Flynn Garden. The official dedication was on Friday, August 15. The College dedicated this garden in honor of Bob Shelton’s service as the former chair of the Sterling College Board of Trustees, and in honor of both Bob and his partner Mark Flynn’s service to the greater Craftsbury community.
President Matthew Derr said of the dedication of the garden, “It was a great treat to see Bob and Mark with their friends gathered in the Houston House Gardens this summer to celebrate the naming of the Shelton Flynn Garden. Their commitment to Sterling over the past decade was important to creating the Sterling we see today. Bob’s board leadership as chair during Will Wootton’s time as president and his work during the transition between presidents provided stability.” • —Ariel Droualt ’15
