On October 10, at the Galaxy Bookstore in Hardwick, faculty member in Ecology David Gilligan held a reading and signing of his new book, Nature, Culture, Consciousness. His latest book is an experiential and literary foray into the nature of being human. The work is predicated on the notion that evolution is at work not only on biota, but also cultures and, most importantly, consciousness. It looks to answer the big questions: “What is nature? What does it mean to be human? Why are we here?”
Gilligan’s other books include The Secret Sierra, In the Years of the Mountains, and Rise of the Ranges of Light.
Those looking to purchase a copy of the book can do so at the Art House in Craftsbury Common, the Galaxy Bookstore in Hardwick, or by contacting David Gilligan directly at firstname.lastname@example.org. •
