Sterling College welcomed two new staff members over the summer.
Simeon Bittman is our new Executive Chef.
Simeon comes to Sterling with an Associate’s degree from the Culinary Institute of America. He has completed stages at renowned restaurants Le Bernadin in New York City, Delfina in San Francisco, and Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Tarrytown, New York. Additionally, Bittman has held positions at Greens in San Francisco, and the Kripalu Center in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.
He says, “I’m totally honored for the opportunity. Sterling College is a leader in both sustainable agriculture and food, and I wanted to be a part of this community of environmental stewards.” He adds, “We’re going to take the food to the next level!”
Katie Lavin is the new Assistant to the President.
Most recently, Katie was the Wholesale Sales Manager at High Mowing Organic Seeds. She was also a partner and farmer with Peacework Farm in Newark, New York. •
