Can you tell us about the work you are doing?

I work for Farm Fresh RI, a non profit organization with the mission to grow a healthy food system for farmers and eaters in our region. At Farm Fresh I manage the largest indoor farmers market in New England as well as several small markets in the summer with a direct focus on food access in low income communities. Farm Fresh was recently awarded a 4 million dollar FINI grant to ramp up SNAP benefits at farmers markets in Rhode Island, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. We are in the process of building a new Food Hub campus on 3.2 acres of land in one of Providence’s industrial and arts neighborhoods.

In late 2017 I opened a 100 seat restaurant in the same neighborhood with 4 business partners called Troop. It’s been a wild, bumpy ride but the restaurant is doing great. Come visit!

How did Sterling influence your current career path?

My love for agriculture and farmers is rooted at Sterling. Farmers are still a big part of my day to day life and I appreciate every interaction I get to have with them.

What is your most memorable course or “out in the field” memory:

Basically the entire summer of 1999!

Be grateful having the opportunity to know a magical part of the world so intimately.
