Ellie arrived at Sterling College as a Farm Assistant in the fall of 2015. She grew up in the Adirondack mountains of upstate NY and started farming during college. Since then, she has farmed in northern New York, New Mexico, the San Juan Islands, and along the coast of Maine. In all of these places, she has been humbled and inspired by hard work, land, and the creation of community through food. She hopes to work to create farming systems that combine production with education in meaningful ways, and are resilient, regenerative, diverse, and ecologically based. When not farming, she enjoys wandering the woods, canoeing, skiing, contra dancing, cooking, and making things with wool.
