Backcountry Climbing in the Northeast

The course will emphasize a progression of rock climbing skills and techniques with backcountry expedition skills and will culminate in a sequence of backcountry climbing experiences in Vermont, New Hampshire, and the Adirondacks of New York State. Students will learn about the logistics of climbing longer and more remote routes; they will climb classic climbs on Mount Washington, in Crawford Notch, North Conway, and the High Peaks of the Adirondacks. Students will be exposed to traditional climbing and New England climbing llore and become proficient in route finding, equipment selection, trip planning, and climbing in backcountry settings.
