Student Services

Academic Advising
Entering students are assigned a faculty advisor. After the first year, students choose an advisor. Advisors for juniors and seniors are associated with their major. The year-long goal of the advisor-advisee relationship is to help students get all they can out of their Sterling College education. Advisors assist students with course selection and meeting program requirements, including filling out a long-term study plan. All faculty and staff members act as resources available to the student. Their involvement in discussion of issues and interpretation of program goals has long been a strength of Sterling.

Counseling
The College Counselor is available during scheduled hours to provide support and counseling services to students as needed. Referrals to outside resources will be made as needed. The counselor also provides participatory workshops on topics related to emotional health.

Career Counseling
The staff members of the Career Resource Center are available for career counseling by appointment.

Health Services
The College Nurse is available during scheduled hours to consult on matters of general, physical, or mental health and to assist with insurance claim forms for accidents. If a doctor’s examination is required, the Wellness Center staff will assist with appointments. Excellent facilities are available in Hardwick, 10 miles from campus, and at Copley Hospital in Morrisville, 20 miles away.
