Internship Facts & Figures

We have established a strong partnership with many environmental organizations and agencies; during the last 24 years:

  • 52 sites have hosted 2 interns
  • 33 sites have hosted 3-5 interns
  • 6 sites have hosted over 5 interns
  • 20 interns were supervised by, or worked with, Sterling Alumni

A sampling of past internship sites:

  • 58 federal agencies, including National Forests, National Parks, and National Wildlife Refuges
  • 18 state agencies
  • 94 educational organizations including environmental, outdoor adventure, classroom, and interpretative
  • 112 agricultural producers
  • 24 environmental advocacy organizations
  • 21 wildlife rehabilitation, veterinary medicine, and animal shelter organizations
  • 30 for-profit “green” businesses
  • 36 research institutions
  • Several national organizations including The Sierra Club, National Audubon Society, PETA, Heifer Project International, The Nature Conservancy, Outward Bound, and NOLS
