Internship Program at a Glance
Bridging theory and practice.
Integrating academic learning with “real-life” employment.
Practical and realistic hands-on training within the environmental fields.
A ten-week experience (working full-time) and two courses (one prior to and one after the experience).
A total of 8 credits.
A requirement of all students.
Experiential learning based on the philosophies of service-learning.
A Sterling College tradition since 1981
Usually occurs during the summer or fall semesters of the second-year.
Introduces students to enviromental organizations.
During internships, students file weekly reports with Sterling College's Internship Office as well as complete problem-solving projects for host organizations. Upon completion, students return to campus to prepare reflective narratives on the learning that occurred, describing and evaluating their experiences. Photographic documentation accompanies the narratives as students give presentations to the Sterling College community.
