The Work Program

Community Development

As a Sterling student you will gain valuable work experience and pride in completing tasks while contributing to the community. Everyone working to keep the campus up and running brings us closer together, and enriches the learning environment throughout the college.

Work Experience

Everyone who lives on campus must participate in the work program. Residents are required to participate in daily dorm, farm, or kitchen chores. Students are also assigned a work program job, and this position plus chores equels 80 hours of work per semester. The jobs vary from trail maintenance to washing pots and pans in the kitchen. In return, you earn $1,450 in credit toward tuition.

Student Value

The work program helps you develop skills in time management, organization, and professional ethics. After graduating from Sterling College you will have had a wide exposure to a variety of work experiences and have a great "real world" advantage. The confidence you gain in your own work skills and abilities prepares you for success in life after Sterling.
